Thomson, the first UK 787 operator, has announced its first 787 routes to Cancun in Mexico and Sanford in Florida. It is allowing the whole country to enjoy the flights, flying from not one, but four UK airports, Gatwick, East Midlands, Manchester and Glasgow. Thomson have got some great things planned for the plane including new bespoke seating specially for 787. With Thomson boasting economy seating of at least 33″ it’d be interesting to see if this is the most spacious economy seating so far on the 787.
With Thomson currently being the only carrier so far to fully colour (compared to ANA or JAL) their 787, it’s going to be interesting to see how the de-lamination problem that the 787 was encountering at the beginning of the year may affect the paint scheme with this new operator. No doubt the de-lamination program has been completed and the problem has been fixed, but if it hasn’t, this airline will be the most obvious to see it on! Either way, I’m looking forward to see a more fully coloured 787 entering service!
The flying will commence on 1st May 2013 and go on sale 26th April this year.
