Plaza Premium Group has announced its plans for its second foray in to the South American market, this time in Sao Paulo. The opening of Plaza Premium’s latest lounge in mid-September in Brazil’s Guarulhos International Airport Terminal 2 is apparently just one more step on the brand’s ambition to open more lounges in the future on the continent. This lounge follows the debut of Plaza Premium’s entry in to South American back in 2016 when they opened their first lounge in the area – in Rio de Janeiro International Airport.

The opening of this lounge is a logical step, as Sao Paulo’s GRU is the busiest airport in Latin America. It records more than 40 million passengers annually, and performs as one of the major transport hubs in the region. Plaza Premium Lounge will operate as an independent lounge and be conveniently located at the domestic departure area in Terminal 2.

Spanning 1530 square metres and accomodating up to 335 passengers, the new lounge will be a welcome addition to the airport, especially after the sad closure of GRU’s Star Alliance lounge in Terminal 3 earlier this year. The architecturally-led stunning design reflects modern Brazilian culture and provide comfortable spaces for rest, work, entertainment, culinary experience, and other amenities. 

The Lounge services offered include reading options, cable TV, flight status information, showers, and private meeting rooms. At the gastronomy section, options include warm dishes, appetisers, fresh food, and soft and alcoholic beverages. The lounge follows Plaza Premium Lounge’s ‘’We Care For Your Wellbeing” programme with zoning to facilitate privacy and social distancing, comfortable seating, and dining areas. 

Plaza Premium continue to develop their ground product, creating spaces that passengers actually want to enjoy, moving away from a clinical and functional space, to residentially inspired zones that reflect the needs of passengers. This will be a welcome addition to GRU as it continues to grow back its passenger volumes post-pandemic. As regular travellers to GRU ourselves, we can’t wait to experience it for ourselves.
