Following this year’s opening of SkyTeam‘s Hong Kong lounge, the alliance is about to launch a second greater-China lounge in Beijing Capital International Airport. The sixth worldwide lounge for the group will offer a “luxurious pre-flight experience complemented by high-end amenities” for First and Business Class passengers and Elite Plus members flying on any of the 12 SkyTeam airlines serving the airport.
At 800sq metres, the space has been designed to accommodate 160 guests following SkyTeam’s signature lounge design featuring sleek, modern curves and natural wood. The lounge was constructed in collaboration with SkyTeam by members China Eastern and China Southern. Beijing Aviation Ground Services will manage and operate the facility on behalf of the alliance.
In total, more than 14 million SkyTeam passengers fly through Beijing each year and, as the largest alliance in Greater China. “Opening our second lounge underscores our commitment to enhancing the travel experience for our top customers in the region,” said SkyTeam CEO and Managing Director, Perry Cantarutti. “With the new lounge, SkyTeam will offer more branded lounges across its global network than any other airline alliance. Because these lounges are popular with our customers and add value for our members, we are developing plans to expand our global lounge portfolio even further.”
The lounge features the group’s traditional buffet with hot and cold Chinese and international food offered throughout the day. Passengers can also help themselves to hot drinks, water and soft drinks, plus premium-label beers and spirits or enjoy a social drink at the wine bar.
We love the utilisation of the large, curved windows that brings in natural light as well as expansive airport apron views. The lounge also features the signature living wall. The lounge also offers complimentary Wi-Fi, a business area with computers, showers, a tranquil retreat with a separate TV room, relaxation area and a VIP room for added privacy.
The alliance offers more than 3,700 weekly frequencies to and from Beijing Capital International Airport, operated by 12 member airlines: Aeroflot, Air France, Alitalia, China Airlines, China Eastern, China Southern, Delta Air Lines, Garuda Indonesia, KLM, Korean Air, Vietnam Airlines and Xiamen Airlines.
