Just last week, XiamenAir, a SkyTeam member, opened up its new ‘Flagship’ lounge in Xiamen Airport Terminal 3, for its premium customers, in a bid to become another formidable international player in the Chinese market.
The new designer led lounge follows the recent international expansion plans, including the upcoming Cebu, Melbourne and Vancouver routes for the airline, operated by its new fleet of 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
These aircraft offer three cabins including First and Business Class, both of which will have access to the 700 sq meter lounge, which can cater up to 120 guests. The lounge is also available to the carriers frequent flyer ‘Egret Gold’ and ‘Egret Silver’ members as well as SkyTeam Elite Plus travellers.
Inside the lounge, you are greeted by a melting-pot of Chinese style, with a contemporary twist on Traditional Chinese interior design. Large circular windows look out on to the airport apron, giving the space a very distinct and unique look.
Tiled pattern floors and alternating colour lounge seating offer a warm and cosy environment, and each seat is equipped with a table and reading lamp which changes the atmosphere come evening time.
As well as offering a traditional tea ceremony service, the lounge offers a fully laden buffet area, wine bar and entertainment area. Like most airline lounges in Asia, XiamenAir have equipped their flagship lounge with two separate VIP rooms for the most valued travellers, or those needing to hold a meeting before the flight. The lounge is also equipped for passengers wanting to relax, hosting a dedicated massage area and shower facilities.
