Lufthansa have just opened their latest lounge, this one in Milan Malpensa. Serving their 7+ flights per day to Frankfurt and Munich, the lounge is certainly large enough at 550 square metres and featuring 117 seats. The new design concept certainly embraces a ‘cosy atmosphere’ as it states in its press release, with warmer tones employed compared to the somewhat more ‘clinically designed’ lounges found in Frankfurt Airport.

Cue Italian traits such as the ‘Made in Italy’ cooking stations and barista’s serving coffee and Italian aperitifs such as Campari, Martini and Aperol. High-quality furniture and design classics from Vitra round off the stylish ambience. The exclusive sanitary area was designed and equipped by Villeroy & Boch.

The new design concept will be rolled out in future lounges across the network, which will now feature a ‘local touch’ found in every lounge. This will add a sense of locality, an emerging trend across airlines around the world.
