American Express opened a new lounge this week in Melbourne International Airport. Located in Terminal 2 at Satellite Level Departures, The American Express Lounge “will offer Card Members a place to relax, refresh and reboot while traveling through Australia.”
The lounge, which sadly doesn’t feature any windows, might be small, but its access is fairly limited, meaning its a great option for those wanting to escape the main departure hall. With swathes of residential style furniture and private seats with Australian power sockets, there are plenty of places to make yourself comfortable.
Situated on one side is a dining area, offering standard dining tables, a high bar and low bar, both of which offer power points. Chef Kalesh Kamal has provided the catering, which varies depending on the time of day, and there also a range of drinks on offer including a barista service, welcome news to any Australian.
The lounge is situated next door to the brand new Plaza Premium Lounge which has just opened as well. They share the same facilities, and we hear that showers are on the cards too.
