Those of you who have flown on Qantas, may be familiar with their fairly hefty inflight magazine Australian Way. Whilst this may be a meaty enough read for most of their domestic flights, what if you have to Kangaroo hop your way to The States or Europe? Well, now there is good news. If you can’t get your hands on a virtual reality headset (Only found in First) there is a new bit of tech that Qantas have employed to keep their passengers entertained.

Thanks to a partnership with PressReader, passengers utilising the Qantas App, now have access to just under 4,000 newsstand titles. Interested in The Los Angeles Times, or what about Vogue Italia? Qantas customers can now download magazines and newspapers in more than 60 languages, from a huge range of local, regional and international titles across 100 countries, prior to their flight. It couldn’t be more environmentally friendly either!

Qantas Group Executive, Brand, Marketing and Corporate Affairs Olivia Wirth said the partnership with PressReader was part of Qantas’ ongoing investment in constantly improving the customer experience. “Many people use flights as a way to catch up with their reading, so this new service opens up a huge library of titles for people to choose from before they take off,” she said. “We built PressReader into the existing Qantas app to make it easier for customers to manage all parts of the journey through the one application.”

The Qantas app is currently available from the Apple App Store.

Qantas ins’t really ‘continuing to innovate’ here – Virgin Australia began doing this in 2013. Try to do a little research or at least a Google Search instead of just regurgitating the hype from an airline’s press release.
