It will come as no surprise that Cathay’s ‘The Deck’ lounge, the latest major lounge to undergo a refurbishment at HKIA, features the carrier’s new signature lounge style brought to life by Ilse Crawford’s original concept.
Located close to gate 16 in Terminal 1, The Deck, which opens its doors to passengers on 22 March, continues the group’s ethos of creating a contemporary living room environment of understated luxury, right in the heart of an airport terminal.
Cathay Pacific Chief Customer and Commercial Officer Paul Loo said: “The Deck builds on the formula that has made our other new lounges around the world so popular with our customers. “Investing in experiences that our customers value and consider important is at the heart of our product and service philosophy, and helps us differentiate ourselves from any other airline. We look forward to welcoming the lounge’s first passengers.”
The lounge space features the signature Noodle Bar, offering the always-tasty dan dan noodles and other dim sum and noodle favourites. Created in an L-shape, the lounge also features a verandah which overlooks the main terminal and takes advantage of the high terminal ceilings. Inside the main lounge area however is the same warm wood, planting and comfortable seating thats synonymous with the airline now.
At almost 850sq m the lounge is big enough to host 180 guests, and boasts eight shower suites, a relaxation room and copious amounts of the airline’s signature seat ‘The Solo Chair’
The size is a benefit as the airline how now announced it will close the Cabin on 30th April, which was the airline’s mid-terminal secret hideaway. The Deck will go quite some way in catering for the closure of this smaller lounge.
