Last week saw the opening of TAP Portugal’s brand-new business class lounge in Lisbon’s Humberto Delgado Airport. The new lounge replaces the previous space and prepares the company for its increasing fleet of retrofitted fully-flat bed seats and new A330neo aircraft just around the corner.
Covering an area of 850 square metres with space for 260 people, it is located on the 6th floor of the airport’s Schengen area, offering amazing views of the runway. The lounge was designed by famous Portuguese architect and designer Miguel Arruda, who has designed a range of Portugals famous landmarks.
It provides the usual range of facilities, including rest areas, showers, a children’s area, Business Centre, restaurant and bar area. The design is certainly modern, with large banks of white and black seating dominating the relaxing area of the lounge.
There are accents of lime green throughout the lounge which offers the occasional splash of colour. This colour helps break through the usually corporate space and brings the lounge back to the brand colours of TAP.
“The use of cork on many of the design elements, including the floors, coverings and sofas, in line with the colours of the recently refurbished TAP aircraft, gives the space an ambiance that is immediately identified with Portugal.” states the press release.
Miguel Arruda, stated the lounge “provides a high level of comfort to passengers regardless of the type and length of their stay. The design of the internal space and the materials used are intended to make it both pleasant and effective.”
Lounge access is open to all Victoria Gold, TAP Corporate TOP, Star Alliance Gold and TAP Platinum American Express passengers. TAP passengers who are travelling on tap|executive or tap|topexecutive fares, whether or not members of the Victoria Programme, also have access to this space. Victoria Silver Clients can use the lounge when travelling on intercontinental flights operated by TAP, irrespective of the fare they purchased.
Interesting…appealing but has an IKEA look to it. I would have liked some Portuguese culture infused with the design of the space.
