Star Alliance has just launched a humorous but welcome new marketing video that showcases the alliances’ determination to respond to one of the largest stresses for frequent fliers – missed connections.
Now while we wish that Star Alliance’s Connection Service was actually as dramatic, fun or fast as this, things might be a little slower, but equally as comforting. The Connection Service springs into action if an incoming flight is delayed. Connection Service staff monitor the transfer window for passengers with an onward flight and flag any cases where a customer and any checked bags appear at risk of missing the connection.
Currently the service is available in 11 global locations including Frankfurt (FRA), Munich (MUC) and London Heathrow (LHR). In North America, it operates at Chicago (ORD), Denver (DEN), Houston (IAH), New York- Newark (EWR), Los Angeles (LAX), San Francisco (SFO), Toronto (YYZ) and Washington Dulles (IAD).
Now regular followers of our site will know that we aren’t the biggest fan of trying to connect in Frankfurt (where this was filmed), due to the lengthy transfers, misleading signage and surly security staff that do nothing but hinder passengers who genuinely need to connect smoothly and quickly. However, this new service will go some way to mitigating that raised pulse and making those tight connections that little bit less stressful.
Now if only we could find an airport where this type of reckless driving is actually allowed…
