SkyTeam has officially opened the doors to its seventh branded lounge with its signature distinct style including bright lively colours and never-ending curved features. Located in Istanbul’s new airport (IST), the facility is served by seven alliance members: Aeroflot, Air France, KLM, Korean Air, Middle East Airlines, Saudia and TAROM.
The lounge features a statement reception area, LED lighting, custom-made furniture and like London’s SkyTeam Lounge a living wall. Totalling over 580 square metres, and more than 145 seats the lounge mirrors the huge amount of space found in Turkish Airlines lounge (although TK’s is vast in comparison).
Just like TK’s lounge, the space includes authentic Turkish cuisine such as freshly cooked pide (Turkish pizza) prepared on-demand at the live cooking station, mezze and traditional tea and coffee. The menu includes European dishes, as well as a selection of snacks. Spirits, soft drinks and wine sourced from local Turkish vineyards are also available.
Just like the airport, the SkyTeam lounge is open 24 hours a day and includes showers, which is surprising considering the only long-haul carrier is Korean Air. The lounge is located in the West Wing on Level H, and like the other lounges in IST has an elevated position.
Kristin Colvile, SkyTeam’s CEO and Managing Director said, ‘SkyTeam is hyper-focused on creating the best in class customer experience of any alliance, and our branded lounges are key to achieving this goal. This striking new lounge is an important component of delivering a seamless experience at every step of our customers’ journeys.’
