Last week saw ITA Airways inaugurate its brand new Hangar Lounge. The lounge has been designed to put Italy front and centre, acting as an ‘ambassador of Italian excellence in the world’ working with some of Italy’s most iconic brands. Entirely ‘Made in Italy’, the Hangar has been designed by the branding agency Robilant Associati and occupies an area of 980 square meters and has a maximum capacity of 150 people.

The new ITA Airways Hangar Lounge will be accessible for all business class passengers, Executive and Premium Volare members as well as Skyteam Elite Plus members departing to domestic and international destinations in the Schengen area. The lounge is pretty well located in Terminal One’s A boarding area.

One of the most iconic elements in the lounge is the visual wall of 72 blue ITA Airways cloches with videos of the destinations set against the yokes of aircraft. It’s described in the airline’s press release as a ‘multi-visual “voyage” in which the customers will be projected directly into the destinations in the flagship carrier’s network, so that their flight begins already in the Lounge.’
No Italian lounge would be complete without an emphasis on food and drink, and that’s why in the heart of the lounge is a large serviced bar. A hot buffet is available in the central island at lunch and dinner times including cocktail hour. Meanwhile a coffee area is available throughout the day, with a qualified barman at the client’s disposal to offer coffee from the collection of specialty coffee 1895 Coffee Designers by Lavazza, as well as a list of iconic cocktails created by Campari Group.

The main seating areas feature Poltrona Frau armchairs and B&B Italia seating with their iconic, innovative designs. For those connecting, or wanting to freshen up after a long day, there’s also showers lined with Bisazza mosaic. Of course, there’s high speed WiFi, workstations, USB and charging stations throughout, and there’s also a VIP conference room, fully furnished by LEMA for meetings in total privacy.
The Lounge is open every day of the week from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. The ITA Airways Hangar Lounge is the fourth lounge to be inaugurated by the flagship airline after “Piazza di Spagna” and “Piazza Venezia” at Rome-Fiumicino and “Piazza della Scala” at Milan-Linate. “More than a place to relax while waiting for the departure of a flight, it offers full enjoyment of the values and distinctive elements of Italian excellence in the world,” completes the press release.
