Ok, so we admit we aren’t the biggest sporting fans, but we do like it when an airline gets into the spirit of supporting their nations’ teams. Historically both Qantas and Air New Zealand show national pride in their sporting prowess, however, after Japan’s surprising victory over South Africa, ANA took over London’s Piccadilly Circus to wish its national team ‘good luck’ as it continues its sporting efforts. The full motion screen in Piccadilly Circus showed the Japanese flag with a pretty genius “re-imagined” red ‘sun’, hoping to inspire the team to further success.
It’s not just Rugby. As sponsor of the Ladies Professional Golf Association’s ‘ANA Inspiration’ tournament, ANA is building strong connections in the sporting world. Yesterday’s screen takeover was complemented by a mobile van advertising coinciding with the game, with ANA flying the flag for its national team around the city of Gloucester.
Mr. Yutaka Ito, Senior Vice President of ANA EMEA said: “ANA has been truly inspired by the fantastic achievement of our national team in the UK. As Japan’s largest airline, we wanted to show our appreciation for their efforts and do our part to cheer our team to victory once again.”
