TheDesignAir is pleased to announce the return of our annual awards in 2021. While we took the decision to postpone the awards in 2020 due to the impact the pandemic had on the aviation industry, we feel now is the right time for its return. We’re pleased to combine both 2020 and 2021’s advancements to ensure that we capture all the latest advancements over the past two years.

Announced later in the year, the awards will be overseen by our esteemed judging panel. We’ll also return to including categories voted for by you, the passenger. We’re once again giving airlines across the globe the chance to be recognised with a coveted design award, focussed on product and brand.

A call for entries: The Design Innovation award

For the first time, we’ll also have a very unique award – this year specifically rewarding companies for their design approach to dealing with the pandemic – The Design Innovation award. We’re creating a call for entries, whereby airlines, airports and design studios can submit entries for design projects they believe has helped them through the pandemic.

Whether it may be amenities, new seats, dividers, or perhaps an adaptation to catering packaging, we’re looking for outstanding, industry-leading design solutions to the various challenges that this pandemic had brought with it. This is our chance to celebrate the agencies and companies that have put their best foot forward in thinking outside of the box, and solving the issues faced throughout the passenger journey.
