Rome has recently seen a wave of new and renovated lounges, including British Airways new lounge, Alitalia’s renovated lounge and now situated on the upper level of Boarding Zone D in Terminal 3, Star Alliance’s superbly designed space for their premium passengers .

Designed by the Barcelona based team, Up to You Studio, the new Star Alliance Lounge welcomes eligible First and Business Class passengers and Star Alliance Gold Card holders.

While the lounge follows the core design palette of Star Alliance lounges around the world, there is definitely a sense of locale at play. Italian designer furniture adorns the lounge, giving a truly Italian ambiance.

But the localisation doesn’t just stop at interior design touches. The lounge also provides Italian service and culinary experiences , ranging from a staffed bar and barista coffee station, to made to order signature dishes.

With seating for up to 130 passengers, the lounge is fairly substantial for a non-Star Alliance hub, and there are plenty of USB and power points to ensure electrical devices are fully charged before the flight.

We really love the wooden slat walls, and large black and white backlit iconic photos of Rome that fill the space and the use of lighting design to add a residential ambience to certain zones.
