Hawaiian Airlines has been one of our favourites in North America for quite a while, they’ve managed to set their stall as a strong, identifiable and unique airline from both passenger experience and brand perspectives.
Its fleet has recently been updated and with the addition of new A321’s focussing on the West Coast, it’s freed up its A330s to explore long-haul routes – including what are currently some of the longest scheduled domestic flights in the world.
Hawaiian has been flying to Boston (4,418 nautical miles) and New York JFK (4,321 nautical miles) for some time, but yesterday saw the launch of another West Coast destination for the carrier. Floridians now have a new, twice-weekly nonstop service between Orlando and Honolulu racking up an impressive 4,133 nautical miles.
“We are excited to introduce our Florida guests to our award-winning Hawaiian hospitality so they may start their island vacation the moment they step onboard,” said Peter Ingram, president and CEO of Hawaiian Airlines. “We are just as pleased to offer Hawai‘i travelers the unmatched convenience of our nonstop service from Honolulu to Orlando, a popular destination for our kama‘āina (residents).”
Honolulu-bound flights historically have been on competitors ‘older metal’ as demand is high, fares expensive, and there’s been little need to offer a competitive product, however now, Hawaiian have elevated their proposition to offer flat-beds on their A330s in First Class, economy comfort seats with extra legroom and other perks, and a wide 2 x 4 x 2 cabin in coach.
One of the reasons we love flying with the carrier is that Hawaiian’s flights also enjoy complimentary island-inspired meals by Hawai‘i’s top chefs. Pair this with the roominess of its 278-seat Airbus A330 aircraft makes it a comfortable trip on these 10-hour East Coast flights.
If you are lucky enough to afford a seat at the front, the 18 First Class lie-flat leather seats are arranged in a 2-2-2 configuration, perfectly tailored for couples, families and honeymooners.
Hawaiian’s A330s are also equipped with 68 of its popular Extra Comfort premium economy seats providing more legroom and enhanced amenities, in addition to 192 Main Cabin seats.
