Finnair have impressed us with a new bolt-on package for their economy class passengers currently flying on Finnair flights between Helsinki and Barcelona, Biarritz, Geneva, Lisbon, London, Madrid, Manchester, Milan, Nice, Paris, Reykjavik and Rome.
It’s a really simple premise, but we love the idea of bundling options that passengers really want, similar to how Virgin Atlantic have approached their economy class offering.
There are three options including a fish meal, meat meal and vegetarian option too, all available for pre-order once the flight is booked. This means that passengers can get a full meal, including wine or beer, as well as seats at the front part of the economy cabin for €35. Now while that might seem steep, its a fairly affordable option for those who are looking for a meal, or in need of exiting the aircraft quickly or boarding first to get access to the overhead bins.

Being Finnair, the food has a great emphasis on healthy, natural clean dining. For meat dishes, expect slow cooked beef brisket, dark mushroom sauce and potato gratin. This delicious meal also includes smoked salmon with beetroot mayonnaise and a strawberry pie. Or for fish lovers, expect grilled salmon with Paris potatoes, Hollandaise sauce and asparagus. This also includes crayfish tails with dill scordalia and a strawberry pie.
