Lucky enough to be in O’ahu right now during the arrival of Island Air‘s new turboprop sent over from the mainland. This image, as seen on their facebook profile shows the aircraft resting after a just over 8 hour flight from the mainland from its previous owner American Eagle. This commences the start of the fare war in the Interisland network, with Island Air offering low fares of $61, immediately matched by Hawaiian Airlines.
The livery itself doesn’t show much, but does look vaguely close to the original concept they released less than two months ago. Bright colours just naturally fit in the tropical island chain, and it will be certainly well received by the locals, who are looking for cheap fares in a tight monopoly between the islands. I like it, its well thought out, and those of you who have visited or live in Hawaii will see how easily this brand will fit and flourish here.
