Etihad introduces MicrobeBARRIER™ face protection

When it comes to personal hygiene kits, Etihad is one of the first airlines to offer a unique, upgraded proposition for its First and Business Class guests, which also includes a snood-style face mask for use throughout their journey and beyond.

The soft reusable snood has been treated with MicrobeBARRIER™ fabric treatment, a broad spectrum antimicrobial treatment, laboratory tested and proven to reduce the presence of germs in fabrics. The long-lasting microbial protective layer is similar to the treatment that world leader in travel media, Ink has applied to all of its inflight magazines moving forward. The treatment makes the snoods washable and reusable, helping Etihad towards its environmentally friendly ambitions.

Travellers can choose to wear the snood around their neck like a scarf and when in close proximity to others, pull it up over their mouth and nose to protect themselves and those around them.

Made out of lightweight, breathable and stretchy jersey fabric, the snood is comfortable and ideal for travel because it can be easily slipped on and off as needed. This is actually a great concept, as we experienced just on a 2.5 hour flight recently that with wearing a medical grade mask for more than 4 hours actually became increasingly uncomfortable around the year. The snood, which is just supported without the ear holding will be a lot more comfortable on the longer legs that Etihad usually flies.

Ethiad Airways Wellness Kit

It is in addition to the variety of measures the carrier brought out, including wellness ambassadors, enhanced cleaning and branded PPE for crew. Now several months in to the pandemic airlines are able to respond with more calculated, measured approaches to hygiene, which allows for an airlines brand positioning to shine through, and Etihad have done just that.
